[UPDATED 11/6/08, 11:49 pm. I'm updating the list as others have made me aware of their presentations. I have to confess that some of the latest additions were missed the first time because I hadn't discovered these blogs yet. Always more to add to the blogroll...someday.]
Thumbing through the SBL program book, I've noticed a lot of biblioblogging friends (as in I follow their blogs) are giving papers or participating in sessions. Here's a list of ones I've found so far, listed in no particular order.

So how did you determine Bishop Wrong's identity? Historical criticism? Source analysis? Divine inspiration? :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this, by the way. I'm going to draw attention to it on Pisteuomen, with the aim of having the bibliobloggers' get-together at a time when none of us is presenting...
Source criticism. I considered the possibility that NT Wrong might be multiple people, but through an analysis of diction and style, I've determined that there is one author and by cross-comparison with his published works, I have a hunch who it is. Actually, I didn't do any of that. But I do have a hunch.
ReplyDeleteI'd been meaning to post a comment on Pisteuomen about the get-together, too, but I was trying to figure out my schedule first.
Interesting. Or perhaps you're just proclaiming your involvement in the quest to disguise your true identity...Bishop Wrong!
ReplyDelete[James pulls off the mask, and Mangum says "I would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling scholars and your pesky blogs"]
You've got me . . . :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the word of the Lord came to me, saying, "No one can serve two blogs, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both Biblia Hebraica and NT Wrong."
Not that it matters, but I Quadrilateral Thoughts am giving two papers:
ReplyDelete"Heaven as the True House of God: Intertextual Soundings in Hebrews," the fourth paper in the 9am Saturday "Intertextuality in the New Testament Consultation"
and
"Can the Bruce/Thrall Interpretation of 2 Corinthians 5:1–10 Account for Romans and Philippians?," the fourth paper in the Sunday "Second Corinthians: Pauline Theology in the Making Seminar."
you missed me :-(
ReplyDeleteDanny Zacharias, giving a paper on Sunday evening
Danny,
ReplyDeleteGotcha added. I have to confess that I haven't regularly followed your blog. I was there just now and plan to read more soon.
I don't know if I can make it to your presentation (there are about 4 sessions that interest me during your time slot), but your paper sounds fascinating. Thanks for bringing it to my attention for the list.
I'm very interested in the topic of pre-Christian Jewish messianic expectation. Right now, I'm working on a later rabbinic midrashic text that deals with the issue of a suffering messiah, the Pesiqta Rabbati. It's one of the texts Knohl's invoked to support his interpretation of Gabriel's Revelation. One of the problems is how to tell if its messianic traditions are pre-Christian or not or pre-70 CE at least.
Thanks so much for putting this together--very helpful.
ReplyDeleteDouglas--I am also fascinated by pre-Christian messianic expectations. Of course, caution is always to be shown, but I'm becoming more and more convinced that the rabbinic material preserves more ancient traditions than we typically give them credit for. The parallels especially between later rabbinic texts and the Gospels are often simply stunning! Looking forward to reading your work.
It is a helpful list to see (even if I am left off of it).
ReplyDeleteThanks for putting it together.
Joe,
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. And you're now on the list.
I think you missed several of the ETC bloggers. I am giving one paper, and several others on the blogteam too.
ReplyDeleteTommy,
ReplyDeleteI didn't check the group blogs like ETC. If I have time, I'll add them. Thanks.
Many thanks for compiling this! ---Stephen C.
