Of course, caution is always to be shown, but I'm becoming more and more convinced that the rabbinic material preserves more ancient traditions than we typically give them credit for. The parallels especially between later rabbinic texts and the Gospels are often simply stunning! Looking forward to reading your work.Michael Barberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09245959720626825944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3613525030683671127.post-30708648875666503992008-11-05T19:51:00.000-08:002008-11-05T19:51:00.000-08:00Danny, Gotcha added. I was there just now and plan to read more soon.

I don't know if I can make it to your presentation (there are about 4 sessions that interest me during your time slot), but your paper sounds fascinating. Thanks for bringing it to my attention for the list.

I'm very interested in the topic of pre-Christian Jewish messianic expectation. Right now, I'm working on a later rabbinic midrashic text that deals with the issue of a suffering messiah, the Pesiqta Rabbati. It's one of the texts Knohl's invoked to support his interpretation of Gabriel's Revelation. One of the problems is how to tell if its messianic traditions are pre-Christian or not or pre-70 CE at least.Douglas Mangumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15267532075493569019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3613525030683671127.post-20097178383209867662008-11-05T17:43:00.000-08:002008-11-05T17:43:00.000-08:00you missed me :-(Danny Zacharias, giving a paper ...you missed me :-(

Danny Zacharias, giving a paper on Sunday eveningDanny Zachariashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09819589295672075138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3613525030683671127.post-83498076100271250642008-11-03T13:12:00.000-08:002008-11-03T13:12:00.000-08:00Not that it matters, but I Quadrilateral Thoughts ...Not that it matters, but I Quadrilateral Thoughts am giving two papers:

"Heaven as the True House of God: Intertextual Soundings in Hebrews," the fourth paper in the 9am Saturday "Intertextuality in the New Testament Consultation"

and

"Can the Bruce/Thrall Interpretation of 2 Corinthians 5:1–10 Account for Romans and Philippians?," the fourth paper in the Sunday "Second Corinthians: Pauline Theology in the Making Seminar."Ken Schenckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09745548537303356655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3613525030683671127.post-65075515520593024102008-11-02T20:09:00.000-08:002008-11-02T20:09:00.000-08:00You've got me . . . :)And the word of the Lord cam...You've got me . . . :)

And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, "No one can serve two blogs, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. I considered the possibility that NT Wrong might be multiple people, but through an analysis of diction and style, I've determined that there is one author and by cross-comparison with his published works, I have a hunch who it is. Actually, I didn't do any of that. But I do have a hunch.

I'd been meaning to post a comment on Pisteuomen about the get-together, too, but I was trying to figure out my schedule first.Douglas Mangumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15267532075493569019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3613525030683671127.post-84853346791795332472008-11-02T19:17:00.000-08:002008-11-02T19:17:00.000-08:00So how did you determine Bishop Wrong's identity? ...So how did you determine Bishop Wrong's identity?
